Dialogue Associate, New Gurugram. The Gurugram Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has taken a tough stance to ensure timely completion of ongoing major infrastructure projects to improve the city's traffic and drainage. GMDA Chief Executive Officer PC Meena, while reviewing the progress of four important infrastructure projects on Monday, clearly said that now delay will not be tolerated at any level.

In the review meeting, the progress of redevelopment of Trade Center Road (Sector 27/43), Hamilton Court Road (Sector 27/28), MG Road streetscaping and Leg-4 drain construction work from Vatika Chowk to NH-48 on Southern Peripheral Road was discussed in detail.

The CEO said that all these projects are important towards improving public facilities and strengthening the infrastructure of the city. Road development works will ensure smooth traffic flow, increase safety of pedestrians and facilitate transportation. At the same time, construction of Leg-4 drain will provide relief from the problem of waterlogging in SPR area and will reduce the pressure on Badshahpur drain during monsoon.

Twice daily site inspection, weekly progress report mandatory

The CEO directed that the concerned SDOs and JEs will conduct site inspection twice a day and share daily progress information with photographs in the official monitoring group. Along with this, the Executive Engineer will do weekly progress mapping of all the projects, clearly mentioning the reasons for any obstruction or delay along with the achievements.

Action will be taken on negligence

PC Meena clarified that if any negligence in monitoring or work is found, strict action will be taken against the responsible officers and engineers. Also, instructions were given to ensure effective dust control measures at all construction sites so that air pollution is controlled and the general public does not face inconvenience.
