Jagran correspondent, Chandauli. There is a big good news in the field of transportation for the people of the district. The obstacles in the construction of Chandauli Roadways Bus Depot near Vikas Bhawan located at the district headquarters have been removed. The construction work of the modern bus depot to be built at a cost of about Rs 22 crore is likely to start by the end of this month.

Survey work has been completed and Detailed Project Report (DPR) is also ready. Now the department is only waiting for the release of the first installment of the budget. The new bus depot in Bichiyan will be spread over about 4.5 acres of land. It has been designed in such a way that passengers can get all the necessary facilities under one roof. It will have facilities of modern waiting room, drinking water, toilets, canteen and workshop for maintenance of buses. With the construction of the depot, the passengers of the district will not have to wander here and there for buses. Dependence on Cantt and Kashi depot will end.

Presently around 50 buses of Chandauli Depot operate from Cantt Bus Depot of Varanasi. Due to not having its own depot, all these buses stop at Kashi depot located at Golgada in Varanasi. Construction of the depot in Chandauli will not only ease the operation of buses but will also increase the revenue and development of the district.

Also read- Villagers will no longer have to bother about coming to the highway, roadways buses will run to villages within a distance of 2 KM.

All necessary formalities for construction of the depot have been completed. The first installment of cost expenditure is expected to be received by the end of the month. As soon as the funds are received, the designated executing agency will start the C&DS construction work on the ground.
