Nihal Singh, New Delhi. To create 1100 Ayushman Health Centers in Delhi, around 400 centers will also be opened in MCD buildings and dispensaries. In this, vacant school and community center buildings will be used to open Ayushman Health Centers, especially in densely populated areas. So that people can get treatment facilities near their homes.
For this, 250 MCD Ayushman Health Centers are to be opened by next March. In this, most of the Ayushman Health Centers will be in vacant and closed school buildings as well as in community centres. Chairman of MCD's Medical Aid and Public Health Committee, Manish Chadha said that the previous government had opened mohalla clinics in Pota Cabin which were useless.
Neither treatment nor medicines were available in the Mohalla Clinics running in roadside POTA cabins, but the Central Government and the Delhi Government are jointly opening Ayushman Health Center in Delhi. 1100 centers are to be opened in this. In this, MCD is also opening this center with the help of Delhi Government.
Also, all the Ayushman Health Centers will be in permanent buildings. He said that there are many buildings of MCD schools which are lying vacant due to being unusable and there are also community buildings which are being used less. Ayushman Health Centers will be opened at these places.
The Chairman said that MCD has 122 community centers which are empty or there are hardly any bookings in them. It is noteworthy that MCD is also getting assistance from Delhi Government for opening Ayushman Health Centers.
The government is helping in this at the rate of Rs 25 lakh per centre, which includes upgradation of the building. Whereas a fund of Rs 12 lakh is being given for the purchase of medicines and a fund of Rs 2 lakh is being given for the purchase of furniture etc.
According to MCD officials, the responsibility of primary health also remains with the corporation. In such a situation, with the opening of this center, the primary health infrastructure of the corporation will be strengthened and people will get treatment near their homes. In these Ayushman Health Centers, 12 health check-up and consultation services are available free of cost.
