Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. A 'Y' shaped two-lane overbridge will be ready at Gorakhpur Cantt Railway Crossing (157 A Special) in one and a half years. Along with nominating the agency for the construction work, the Railway Administration has also issued Letter of Acceptance (LOA). Time of one and a half years has also been fixed to complete the construction work. Construction work will start soon.
Experts say that the railway administration has given the final approval to the new design of the overbridge. The width of the bridge will be seven and a half meters and length will be 870 meters. The construction organization has also passed a revised budget of approximately Rs 53 crore to start the construction work.
In fact, the railway administration has developed the cantt as a terminal station, but has not yet been able to arrange for a proper route. It is not that there is no road to the railway station, but the road to the north enters the city only through a crossing.
People have to wait for hours for the crossing to open in the sun and rain. Girls students and patients have faced maximum difficulties. Accidents happen every day while crossing the crossing. Due to difficulties, the inclination of passengers towards Cantt station has not increased till date.

Whereas, trains have started operating on the Varanasi route from Cantt station. Local trains will be run not only on Varanasi but also on Narkatiaganj and Chhapra routes. However, apart from the bridge, the Railway Administration has started the process of preparing another gate and path on the army land to the south of the Cantt station.
At present, with the construction of an overbridge at the railway crossing, the movement of not only railway passengers but also the general public will become easier. People will be able to cross the overbridge easily. Apart from the passengers commuting at Gorakhpur Cantt station, the movement of lakhs of people, students and employees of dozens of localities like Nandanagar, Jharna Tola, Lalganj, Gayatrinagar, Unchwa, Dargahiya etc. will be facilitated. People will not have to wait for the crossing to open.
An agency has been nominated for the construction of a two-lane road overbridge at the level crossing near Gorakhpur Cantt railway station. LOA has also been issued. A target of one and a half years has been set for the construction work. Construction of road overbridge will provide a lot of relief to the road users. Operation of trains will be smooth in Gorakhpur Cantt yard.
