Jagran Bureau, New Delhi. According to the indications being received from the Election Commission's preparations regarding the preparations for the assembly elections to be held in Assam, West Bengal, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Puducherry, the assembly elections of these five states can be declared in the first week of March itself. In the year 2021 also, the assembly elections of these states were held simultaneously. Also, this was announced on 26 February.
This time, in view of the special intensive revision of voter lists going on in these states, it is likely to move forward. Meanwhile, the Commission can also start its tour after February 15 to check the election preparations of the five states. At present, the Commission has started sending its lower officials to these states to assess the ground preparations before its visit.
Election Commission meeting with observers
In this regard, a team of the Commission has reached Assam. Teams will soon leave for other states also. As part of election preparations, the Commission has recently held a meeting with the observers to be deployed in the five states. Also informed about the precautions to be taken during deployment.
According to the Commission, among these five states, the final voter list of Assam will be published on February 10, while that of Bengal, Kerala, Puducherry will be published on February 14 and that of Tamil Nadu on February 17. That is, only after this the Commission will start examining the election preparations of these states.
The assembly elections of these five states to be announced in March are also very important from the political point of view, because out of these, West Bengal, Tamil Nadu and Kerala currently have governments of opposition parties, while Assam and Puducherry have NDA governments.
SIR will start soon in the remaining states also
After conducting special intensive revision of voter lists in 12 states of the country after Bihar, the Election Commission is now preparing to start SIR soon in all those states including Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Jammu and Kashmir.
