Bike-riding miscreants created a sensation by firing indiscriminately outside the house of Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha leader Ujjwal Yadav in Aryanagar North locality on Friday night. The incident occurred around 11:20 pm. Police have recovered eight shells from the spot.

The incident took place over a dispute over a phone conversation with a girl. Kotwali police has detained a youth resident of Bettiahata. Raids are going on in search of his associates.

According to police, Ujjwal Yadav has gone to Varanasi. His mother Sandhya, father Ambuj and two sisters were present at home. It is alleged that four youths riding on two bikes reached in front of the house and started firing while standing near the transformer. Family members say that during the firing, the accused pressed Sandhya's mouth and beat her. There was chaos in the locality after hearing the sound of gunshot. People hid in their homes.

Four named including Arthak, resident of Bettiahata, one in custody

On receiving information about the incident, SP City Abhinav Tyagi, CO Kotwali Omkar Dutt and CO Cantt Yogendra Singh reached the spot along with the police force. Arthak, a resident of Bettiahata, has been detained from the footage of CC cameras installed nearby. Preliminary investigation revealed that Ujjwal used to talk to a girl over which there was a dispute with the accused. Four youths including Arthak Singh and Anis, residents of Bettiahata, have committed the crime.

CO Kotwali said that investigation is being done on all aspects and soon all the accused will be arrested. Police force has been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure.
