Jagran correspondent, Amroha. A case of GST evasion along with illegal drug trade has come to light in town Joya. Investigation revealed that two medical stores operating here did business worth crores of rupees. But did not give GST to the government. When the matter came to light, on the information of the Pharmaceutical Department, the Commercial Tax Department canceled the GST registration of both the firms. Now no billing will be done in the name of the concerned firms. The Commercial Tax Department has also started financial investigation.

On August 27, Drug Inspector Pankaj Gautam in District Una of Himachal Pradesh along with the ANTF team raided M/s Rapid Relief Medicos in Rakkar Colony located on Una-Nangal Road. During the operation, 55 leaves of intoxicating tablet Covitadol-100 SR were recovered.

It was revealed that the company had supplied 490 leaves of Covitadol-100 SR tablets to M/s AS Pharma and 507 leaves to M/s Care Medicos.

Both the firms were registered in Mohalla Chaudharyan Ward 2 Kasba Joya District Amroha. In this regard, the drug inspector of Una had informed Moradabad division's assistant commissioner Arvind Gupta and drug inspector Ruchi Bansal posted in Amroha. After this, the local medicine department started investigation, but during inspection, both the medical stores were found closed.

M/s Care Medicos was registered in State GST. Whereas M/s AS Pharma was registered in Central Jurisdiction (CGST). Despite having a turnover of crores of rupees based on the billing done in the forms, none of the firms deposited GST. On this, the Commercial Tax Department has canceled the registration of both the firms.

Drug trade was being run in rented shops.

This drug trade was being operated from rented shops. The director of one firm is a resident of Maharashtra and the other of Delhi. After the disclosure of the matter, the pharmaceutical department has become strict. Now police verification of the tenant will be made mandatory before issuing the license of the medical store. Besides, an affidavit will also be taken from the tenant.

Both the medical store operators have not deposited GST and are doing business on billing basis. The registration of both their firms has been cancelled.
