Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. The court has sentenced the culprit who carried out acid attack on a student preparing for NEET and her younger brother to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Special Judge POCSO Act has also imposed a fine of Rs 1.05 lakh on the convict.
Special Public Prosecutor Rajiv Tiwari said that the incident took place on 26 September 2023 in Bannuwal Colony of Izzatnagar police station area. The FIR in the case was written by the victim's uncle.
He said that his nephew and niece lived in a rented house in Bannulal Colony. The niece was preparing for NEET while the nephew was a student of class 11th. He himself was doing BAMS.
It was alleged that on the night of 26th September at around 3.30 pm, Yuvansh, a resident of Rajiv Enclave, entered their house and poured acid on their nephew and niece. After this he ran away with the phones of both the people.
Police arrived on information, investigated the matter and took samples. On the basis of uncle's complaint letter, an FIR was registered against the accused Yuvansh. The police filed a charge sheet in the case and the hearing started in the court.
The government lawyer presented six witnesses. Special Judge POCSO Act found the accused Yuvansh guilty on the basis of evidence and witnesses and sentenced him to 20 years of rigorous imprisonment. Besides, a fine of Rs 1.05 lakh has also been imposed on him.
