Accused in police custody
Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. Gaurav Aggarwal, accused of evading GST return (ITC) worth Rs 14 crore by creating a bogus firm, was arrested on Sunday. The network of the accused, who had embezzled money from the government treasury by making fake bills and lease deeds, had spread to Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Delhi, Bengal and Uttarakhand.
In this fraud, many other bogus firms were also created, through which fake transactions were shown. There is a possibility of Hawala money being diverted in this. On October 19 last year, the FIR was written by Avinash Kumar Dixit, Deputy Commissioner of State Tax Division Eight. He said that Yogesh Kumar and others stole ITC worth Rs 14 crore by creating a fake firm in the name of Shyam Traders.
Later the investigation of this case was handed over to the Crime Branch. According to the investigating officer, the name of Yogesh's associate Gaurav Aggarwal also came to light during the investigation. The accused had set up a network of bogus firms. With the help of this, tax returns were taken by showing purchases and sales from one firm to another. For this, the accused used to show empty vehicles for transporting goods through e-way bills.
Fake registration was done on the addresses of rental shops. When Gaurav Aggarwal was arrested on Sunday, he admitted that he had made fake invoices and e-way bills, which he also found on his mobile phone. Now the accused named in this case, Yogesh, is being searched. Crime Branch says that in the investigation so far, ITC theft of more than Rs 14 crore has come to light. There is also a possibility of Hawala money being embezzled in this fraud, hence other evidence is being collected.
