After the deaths due to contaminated water in Indore, the health department is continuously active in supplying pure drinking water to the people and preventing them from water-borne diseases. First a water testing campaign was launched on January 7 and now the list of areas where contaminated water was found in the last years has been released.
Not only this, the Health Department has warned five societies supplying contaminated water. Water borne diseases have been reported in these societies in the past years. The Health Department regularly releases water testing reports. For the first time, a list of only such areas has been released where, after continuous testing, water quality has been found to be poor and people have fallen ill after drinking water in these areas.
The list of these areas has been sent to the responsible people of the civic body and society with the intention that arrangements should be made for the supply of pure drinking water. The names of societies from Loni to Rajnagar Extension are also included in these. According to the list, people are drinking sewer water at many places.
According to the test report, out of 2005 samples of water taken from across the district by the Health Department for testing between January and December 2025, 539 were found to be failed. Many societies are also included in these. That means the said water was found contaminated. So far in January 2026 alone, water at 26 places has been found contaminated in tests.
There is a need to monitor drinking water supply in these areas
Rajiv Garden Loni, Sangam Garden Loni, Begumabad Modinagar, Modinagar, Siddharth Vihar, Lal Quarter Khairati Nagar, Lathmar Area Khairati Nagar, Nandgram E Block, Nandgram F Block, Vijaynagar, Krishna Nagar, Fafrana Basti of Modinagar, Madanpura Modinagar, Janakpuri Shalimar Garden, C-34 Shalimar Garden, Kot Gaon Arya Nagar, Jeevan Vihar Shastri Nagar, E Block Shastri Nagar, Prahladgarhi Vasundhara, Shitala Mata Mandir Prahladgarhi Vasundhara, Daulatpura, Gurudwara Daulatpura, Gaushala Phatak and Prahladgarhi.
Special monitoring of drinking water supply started in these five societies
On investigation, contaminated water was found twice in Mahagunapuram located on NH-24, Swarnjayantipuram Govindpuram, Sevivilla de Rajnagar Extension, Amrapali Crossing Republic, Bharat City Loni.
A list of five such societies in the city has been released where waterborne diseases were reported in the last years. Special monitoring and vigilance is being done at these places. On the basis of water found unsatisfactory in the report, a letter has been written to the bodies and societies for supply of clean drinking water in the concerned areas. Water will be tested continuously in the areas where 539 samples failed in the test last year. Municipal Corporation officials have taken the investigation report seriously and have started making concrete arrangements for the supply of clean drinking water.
