Jagran correspondent, Shivhar. A campaign against encroachment was launched in Dekuli Dham on Friday. During this period, the district administration's bulldozer ran on dozens of kutcha and pucca shops and kiosks.

The team arrived with officers, police personnel and laborers and demolished the encroached NH land in front of the temple and on the western side of the road by running a bulldozer on it. During this period there was chaos among the shopkeepers.

The shopkeepers looked angry. Shopkeepers admitted that the administration has used bulldozers against encroachment. But they were neither given any notice nor given a chance to remove their structure. Shopkeepers said that the encroachment could have been removed even after two days. A fair is organized here on Mahashivratri.

After the renovation and beautification of Dekuli Dham, devotees were continuously increasing here. Shopkeepers were hopeful that there would be good business on Mahashivratri. But meanwhile, the administrative bulldozer that started on Friday has dashed their hopes.

However, administrative officials said that shopkeepers had already been given notice to remove encroachment from NH land. But NH land was not vacated. Therefore this action has been taken.

However, NH Executive Engineer Prateek Kumar said that even after the notice was given, the encroachment was not removed. Therefore, this action has been taken with the cooperation of the district administration.

However, encroachment on NH land still continues. On Friday, shopkeepers from far off places started arriving in Dekuli Dham for the Mahashivratri fair and started setting up their shops in the surrounding areas. Meanwhile, due to the campaign against encroachment launched by the administration, the shopkeepers packed their bags and went back.
