Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. Two youths lost their lives in a tragic road accident on National Highway-16 in Khurda district of Odisha on Friday morning. Both youths riding a scooter died on the spot after being hit by an unknown vehicle near Dadhimachhagadia Chowk in Khurda Sadar police station area. The driver absconded after the accident.
According to police and local sources, the deceased have been identified as Bikash Baral (20) and Shubhranshu Sundaraya (21). Both the youth were going from Banpur Sanahantur towards Bhubaneswar. It is being told that he was going to attend a job interview when an unknown speeding vehicle coming from behind hit his scooter hard. The collision was so severe that the scooter was completely damaged.
Police investigation intensified in hit and run case
Passersby informed the police about the incident. As soon as the information was received, Khurda Sadar Police reached the spot, secured the accident site and took the bodies into custody. The police sent both the bodies to Khurda District Headquarters Hospital for post-mortem. The registration number of the scooter has also been seized by the police.
As soon as information about the incident was received, the relatives of the deceased reached the police station. Police have intensified the investigation in the hit and run case. The footage of CCTV cameras installed nearby is being scrutinized so that the accused vehicle and driver can be identified.
Police officials say that the accused driver will be arrested soon. Investigation of the matter is ongoing.
