Jagran correspondent, Ghaziabad. Some cafe operators of Rajnagar District Center (RDC) are being accused of extorting huge amount of money by luring youth through honeytrap. Many such complaints have been registered in the last two years. However, experts say that the actual number could be much higher, as many victims do not file complaints due to social shame and fear.
In a recent case, a young man named Sumit Bansal had complained about being given excessive bills in a cafe and being assaulted when he protested. This case has already been registered, but after this, questions have again been raised on the operation of RDC's cafe.
Bills of Rs 25 thousand to Rs 50 thousand are handed over
According to sources, in some cafes, girls befriend young men and invite them. Celebrations are held in the café on the pretext of a special occasion and later a bill of Rs 25,000 to Rs 50,000 is handed over. There is alleged pressure to refuse payment.
The cafes about which complaints were made in the past were also sealed by the administration. But it is alleged that after a few months the same place reopens under a new name and another gang takes over the operations. This is raising questions on the effectiveness of the action.
Such allegations repeatedly coming to light in RDC, which is considered a commercial hub, are raising serious concerns regarding local security arrangements and licensing monitoring. There is a demand for regular inspection and strict enforcement, so that this alleged game of extortion by trapping the youth can be stopped.
Similar cases happened in the past
same method of recovery
The method of recovery from victims is similar in most cases. Friendship through the app and then calling the girl to RDC's restaurant and telling her her birthday and presenting a bill for huge amount of money for hookah, fireworks and food. If you protest, you are threatened by the bouncers. Kavinagar police has not been able to take concrete action in any case.
All such cafes will be thoroughly investigated. No one will be spared in cases like extortion or honeytrap.
