Jagran correspondent, Greater Noida. Ecotech 3 Kotwali police have registered a case of harassment against five in-laws including the accused husband who took the woman out of the house along with the child and left her in the forest.
The victim's father Ravindra, resident of village Gharbara of the area, had married daughter Sakshi on 17 January 2024 with Sunil Nagar, resident of Tigaon under Faridabad district of Haryana. At the time of marriage, Dan had fulfilled all the prescribed dowry conditions. It is alleged that when the daughter reached her in-laws, the other in-laws including her husband started demanding an additional Rs 50 lakh.
When the demands were not met, the daughter started being beaten and tortured. When she refused to take abortion pills while pregnant, her daughter was forcibly sent to her parents' home. The accused did not come even at the time of delivery. The daughter gave birth to a son, yet he did not come to take her. A message was sent to the relatives that they would take the daughter only after paying Rs 50 lakh. On the persuasion of relatives, they took him away and started torturing him again.
It is alleged that on November 22, 2025, the husband and others beat up the daughter and ran away along with the child, leaving her in the forest outside the village at 11 pm. Somehow the daughter reached home and narrated her ordeal.
Now when asked about taking away the daughter, the accused are abusing and threatening her. Inspector in-charge Arvind Verma said that a case of harassment has been registered against the accused husband Yogendra Nagar, father-in-law Sunil Nagar, mother-in-law Saroj, sister-in-law Sonika and brother-in-law Pawan. Further action will be taken based on the facts found in the investigation.
