Jagran correspondent, Meerut. The issue of illegal occupation of land of Gandhi Ashram in Meerut was echoed in the Assembly on Wednesday. Dharna has been going on here for a long time to protest against this occupation and to demand action against the people who have taken over.
When Leader of Opposition SP Mata Prasad Pandey raised this issue in the House, the Chief Minister in reply bluntly said that whoever occupies any mythological place or monument, he will not leave it.
SP leader Mata Prasad Pandey said in the House on Wednesday that the people of Meerut had come to me with complaints. Gandhi Ashram, established in the name of Mahatma Gandhi, has a large area in Meerut. Some part of it has been captured. The rest will also be captured.
He demanded action from the Chief Minister to save this property in the name of Mahatma Gandhi. Answering his questions, the Chief Minister said that people have a tendency to encroach on government land.
If anyone encroaches on a monument or a mythological place, I will not leave it. Will investigate the complaint of encroachment on the property of Gandhi Ashram. Will take full report on it. Anyone who encroaches will be removed. The Chief Minister said that government land should be for the poor.

The strike has been going on for two years
The employees organization of Gandhi Ashram is protesting day and night from October 9, 2023 (for more than two years) alleging illegal occupation of the property of Gandhi Ashram and demanding action against the encroachers. He has accused all the members of Gandhi Ashram Meerut and Gandhi Ashram Lucknow and the officials of Meerut of selling the property of Gandhi Ashram Meerut.
