A case will be registered against the sailors who recklessly endanger the lives of passengers while operating boats in Ganga, they will be sent to jail or fine will be imposed against them. Water Police has issued an advisory regarding safe operation of boats in Ganga.
According to Inspector-in-charge Rajkishore Pandey, a section related to negligent operation of a ship or vessel (Section 282 of BNS 2023) will be imposed against the boat driver and owner who do not follow the rules.
According to this, if any person operates a boat or steamer negligently, thereby endangering human life or property, he can be punished with imprisonment of up to six months or a fine of ten thousand rupees.
