Jagran correspondent, Gorakhpur. To curb the revenue loss caused by advertising mediums, the Municipal Corporation has started preparations to implement a digital monitoring system. Now all the advertising structures like Unipole, Flag Unipole, Billboard and Gate Entry will be monitored through an app based system.
Under this, each structure will be given a unique ID and a QR code will be pasted on it, on scanning which information about permission, duration and fee payment status will be available.
The Municipal Corporation has recently started a campaign against illegal advertising structures. In the ongoing action since last week, till now 7 illegal unipoles installed in the city have been identified and confiscated. All these were installed without permission, due to which the corporation was not earning any revenue. According to officials, the aim of the new digital system is to establish effective control over such illegal structures.

According to the records of the corporation, at present there are 150 unipoles, 100 flag unipoles, 125 billboards, 50 gate entries and 13 passenger bus shelters on the dividers in the city. All of them will be registered through the proposed app. After the implementation of QR code based system, on-the-spot verification will be possible during field inspection, which will increase transparency and curb arbitrariness. Besides, the process of revenue collection will also be more systematic.
The process of installing QR code and technical development of the app will be started soon. The new system will be implemented soon. Currently, action is being taken by investigating illegal unipol, flag unipol and gate entry.
