Whenever there is an explosion at a firecracker factory or storage site, this issue comes into limelight and the administration loses sleep. Even after this, instead of exposing the entire network, the action remains limited to only one or two people associated with the blast.
The explosion that took place in Brahma Baba's street of the city on Wednesday has once again exposed this dangerous illegal business. This is not the first incident. Earlier, two people had lost their lives in massive explosions during firecracker manufacturing in Naya Bhojpur and Purana Bhojpur and entire houses were turned into debris.
Despite this, neither any concrete policy was made nor any decisive action could be taken against the illegal traders. Firecrackers have been secretly being manufactured and stored in the residential area of Dumraon for years.
These factories running on narrow streets and amidst dense population can become the cause of a major accident at any time. A little carelessness or irregularity in construction can push the entire neighborhood towards destruction.

The most worrying aspect is that till date the administration and police do not even have a clear list in which areas illegal firecracker manufacturing is taking place and who are the people involved in it. When the information is incomplete, how action will be taken is a big question in itself.
Where does the raw material for firecracker manufacturing come from?
The biggest question after the explosion incident is that from where is the raw material being obtained for illegal firecracker manufacturing. Whereas there are strict rules on the sale of chemicals like saltpeter, sulfur and Nausadar used in firecracker manufacturing and licensing is mandatory. Despite this, these substances are easily available in the city and surrounding areas.
Recently, a large quantity of raw material related to firecracker manufacturing was recovered in a raid on a shop in Dumraon city, which is a clear proof that this illegal business is not limited to one person, but is flourishing as an organized network.
Now the question is whether this time the administration will shirk its responsibility by just filing an FIR, or will it reach the roots of the illegal explosives business and take strict and permanent action.
