In Bengal, an Army soldier has been arrested for cutting his wife's hair, pouring cow dung water on her head and then beating her brutally with sticks and rods on suspicion of illicit relations. According to local and police sources, this incident took place in Kumra Panchayat under Habra police station area of North 24 Parganas district.
The name of the arrested soldier is Manoranjan Sarkar, who is posted in Jaipur. He had come to his village on leave. It is alleged that he was keeping an eye on his wife for a long time and used to harass her. He has been arrested on the basis of his wife's complaint. However, the accused soldier denied all the allegations against him.
According to local sources, the accused husband used to doubt his wife every now and then. He had installed CCTV cameras throughout the house and even in the bedroom to keep an eye on his wife, as he suspected that she went out. It is alleged that Manoranjan had come home on leave a few days ago.
On the basis of that suspicion, he started torturing his wife Pooja physically and mentally. The matter worsened on Thursday when he cut his wife's hair, poured cow dung on her head and beat her mercilessly. The victim housewife alleged that her father-in-law, mother-in-law and two neighboring women were also involved in the incident along with her husband.
After this incident, she somehow escaped from her in-laws and went straight to Habra police station and lodged a complaint against her husband. After which the police arrested the accused. The woman alleges that she has been enduring harassment for the last eight years thinking about her family and children. He has demanded strict punishment for the accused. However, the arrested army personnel denied the allegations when he appeared in court on Friday. Police said that the matter is being investigated.
