Jagran correspondent, Bulandshahr. The services of Kalyan Singh Government Medical College are proving effective for the economically weaker people. In the NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) ward of the Medical College, the team of doctors worked hard for 70 days and handed over the 720 gram newborn to 1 kg 540 grams in the mother's lap. The mother, who had given up hope, became happy as soon as she took the healthy child in her lap.
Dr. Ajay Patel, CMS of District Women's Hospital, said that Karan's wife Ritika, resident of Rasulpur Rithori village of Salempur area, was pregnant. When her health deteriorated, she gave birth six and a half months prematurely on 22 November 2025. The baby girl, born after just 25 weeks, weighed only 720 grams. The relatives went to many private hospitals with the newborn girl.
When the doctors told about the expenditure of lakhs of rupees, the relatives were defeated because Karan works as a laborer and runs the household. After this he reached the District Women's Hospital affiliated to Kalyan Singh Medical College. Here, Assistant Professor and senior pediatrician Dr. Brijendra Singh, after seeing the newborn, told his relatives that if they try, his life can be saved, but his relatives were not ready.
Finally left the newborn in the NICU ward and went home. Here the team of doctors worked hard on the C-Pap machine for 76 days. During this time the newborn was given oxygen and blood transfusion. Eyes, nose and ears were examined several times. On Monday, after 76 days, the newborn weighed 1540 grams.
After recovery, Dr. Brijendra Singh and Dr. Ajay Patel handed over the newborn in Ritika's lap and the parents' faces lit up with joy. Ritika told that she had lost hope that she would get the happiness of motherhood from this daughter, because the baby's eyes did not even open and her weight was very low. The nursery of the private hospital did not have the capacity to provide treatment. Ritika and Karan expressed their gratitude to the doctor and staff.
