Airbags saved lives of people in Daryaganj.
Jagran correspondent, New Delhi. A major road accident was averted in Daryaganj area of Central district late on Sunday night when a speeding XUV car lost control and overturned after hitting the footpath. It was fortunate that the airbags of the car opened on time, due to which the lives of both the youth including the driver were saved and they were saved from serious injuries.
According to Anant Mittal, Deputy Commissioner of Central District, at around 1:21 in the night, the speeding XUV 700 driver, while overtaking the bus on Netaji Subhash Marg in Daryaganj, lost balance on the car while climbing the cement and gravel spread on the road, due to which the car overturned after hitting the footpath directly. The collision was so strong that the vehicle was badly damaged.
There was less traffic on the road at the time of the accident, due to which no pedestrian or other vehicle was hit by it. As soon as the information was received, Daryaganj police station reached the spot. With the help of local people, the overturned car was straightened and the two youths trapped inside were taken out safely. Both had minor injuries and were given first aid.
The driver told the police that the vehicle slipped due to construction material spread on the road and he could not control the vehicle. The police inspected the spot and gave instructions to remove the material spread on the road and appealed to the drivers not to drive at high speed at night and to be cautious.
