Jagran correspondent, West Delhi. A sensational case of betrayal and theft by a domestic help has come to light in Bindapur police station area of Dwarka district. The Anti-Bullying Cell of Dwarka District Police has arrested 27-year-old domestic help Bharti alias Kiran. Stolen gold and silver jewelery and the stolen amount of Rs 3.80 lakh deposited in the bank account have been recovered from the accused. According to the police, the accused Bharti used to work at the house of the complainant Preeti till June 2025. During that time, he had very cleverly made a copy of the house keys. When she learned that the complainant's family had gone out of town, she entered the house wearing a mask on December 12 and fled with the ancestral jewelery within just 15 minutes.
DCP Ankit Singh said that as no sign of forced entry was found at the spot, the police suspected some unknown person. After scanning the CCTV footage of a week, a suspicious woman was seen wearing a niqab. Based on technical surveillance and information from an informer, the police raided a rented house in Janakpuri, from where Bharti was trying to escape after collecting the stolen goods.
During interrogation, Bharti told that she wanted to buy a small flat for the future of her younger daughter. To raise this fund, he stole and sold some jewelery and deposited Rs 3,80,000 in his SBI account.
The police have recovered a stolen gold locket and gold chain, a gold ring and two pairs of earrings, silver anklets and two pairs of anklets from the possession of the accused. The police are now also investigating the role of the goldsmith who bought the stolen jewelery in this case.
