Jagran correspondent, East Delhi. On Sunday, at Harsh Vihar's crematorium, a Pandit refused to perform the last rites of a dead body after seeing a mark on its neck. This caused an uproar there. Pandit informed and called the police. Investigation revealed that the youth had committed suicide over a domestic dispute. The family tried to show him a heart attack. The body of Bharat alias Kalu has been taken into custody by Harsh Vihar police station and sent for post-mortem.
Talked about death due to heart attack
Bharat lived with his family in Harsh Vihar. He was a security guard in a company by profession. The family of the deceased told that Bharat's in-laws house is in Kondli. Bharat's sister-in-law's wedding was on 20th February. He had gone to his in-laws' wedding with his family. The family alleged that at 6 am on February 22, they received a call from Bharat's in-laws that he had died of a heart attack. At around seven o'clock he came home with the dead body.
Investigation into murder and suicide begins
After some time, the family members reached the crematorium of Harsh Vihar for the last rites. As soon as the Pandit went for the last rites, he removed the cloth and found marks on the neck of the dead body. When he became suspicious, he informed the police about the matter. Police took the body into custody.
When the wife of the deceased was interrogated, she said that she lied so that the last rites could not be performed. On Sunday morning, her husband's body was found hanging with the help of a chunni in the room. Police say that only after the post mortem report comes, it will be known whether the youth committed suicide or was murdered.
