To curb road accidents, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, through online video conferencing, gave instructions to take strict action against those who violate traffic rules. After this the officers set out to take action with the convoy. Late Sunday evening, the administration and police jointly conducted a massive checking campaign at the Ganga Barrage.
In one and a half hours, 90 vehicles were checked, 39 were challaned and two vehicles were seized when the drivers were found drunk. Assembly sticker was found on a vehicle. The drunk driver kept trying to mislead the officers. He was challaned.
In compliance with the instructions of the Chief Minister, District Magistrate Jitendra Pratap Singh, DCP Ravindra Kumar and ARTO Administration Alok Kumar Singh entered the field. The team of officers conducted intensive vehicle checking at Ganga Barrage from around 7 pm to 8.30 pm. Assembly sticker was found on a vehicle.
Attempt to mislead officials
The driver was drunk and kept trying to mislead the officers. Seeing the situation worsening, the driver's wife also reached the spot and tried to save him, but the authorities took action.
On the instructions of the District Magistrate, a challan of Rs 10,000 was issued to the driver. Also, instructions were given to check the validity of the assembly sticker installed on the vehicle. DCP Traffic clarified that if misuse or forgery of stickers is found, more stringent action will be taken under relevant sections.
The District Magistrate said that in the future, intensive campaigns will be conducted against those who drive under the influence, use fake identity and violate the rules. Instructions have been given to the police and transport department for regular checking, so that road accidents can be effectively curbed.
