A case was registered against 11 in-laws including wife and in-laws for harassing the young man.
Jagran correspondent, Greater Noida. On the orders of the court, Beta Do Kotwali police have registered a case against 11 in-laws including wife and mother-in-law for harassing the youth. The victim youth has requested for protection from his wife and other in-laws, fearing danger to his life and property. Police have started investigating the matter.
Avinash Tomar, resident of Aastha Greens of Bisrakh Kotwali area, had a dowry-free marriage with Kanchan, daughter of Satpal, resident of Nehru Nagar, Ghaziabad, on November 4, 2022. Avinash alleges that during the wedding rituals, he came to know that Satpal and his wife and other in-laws had married him by hiding all the information with the intention of taking financial benefits from him.
During the marriage, Kanchan's mother, uncle and relatives abused her and treated her humiliatingly. After coming to her in-laws house, Kanchan started arguing with her without any reason. In November 2023, during a conversation with an astrologer, Kanchan said that she had married him only for financial benefits. As the dispute escalated, the matter reached the police station.
On April 19, 2025, the accused attacked him fatally. His wife Kanchan threatened to commit suicide and implicate him in a false case. His relatives are also involved in the conspiracy. On October 31, the accused, along with some unknown people, stopped him in the city park, beat him and opened fire on him with the intention of killing him. The victim narrowly escaped death. When people nearby arrived, the accused ran away threatening to kill them.
The victim had approached the court fearing threat to his life and property from the accused. Inspector in-charge Vinod Kumar said that a case has been registered against 11 accused including accused father-in-law Satpal, mother-in-law Sangeeta, wife Kanchan, brother-in-law Robin, sister-in-law Richa, Urvashi, Naresh, Dharmendra, Sharda, Sunita and Rishu. Further action will be taken based on the facts found in the investigation.
