Jasan, Agra. Liquor lovers have broken all records to celebrate the year 2026. In 72 hours, lovers have consumed liquor worth Rs 18 crore. The highest liquor sale was on December 31, amounting to Rs 7.5 crore. If we talk about sales, English liquor and beer together account for 65 percent. 35 percent country liquor has been sold. The Excise Department has received 20 percent additional revenue.
There are 636 shops in the district. There are 266 composite shops, 338 country liquor, seven bars, 24 model shops and eight premium retail brands. In the year 2024, there was a sale of Rs 13.60 crore in three days. The maximum occurred on 31 December and 1 January 2025. In the year 2025, liquor has been sold at an average of Rs 4.25 crore per day.
Liquor sales increased from December 30. Liquor worth Rs 5.5 crore was sold in one day. Liquor worth Rs 7.5 crore was sold on 31st December and liquor worth Rs 5 crore was sold on 1st January. On the occasion of New Year, there was a lot of traffic jam with lovers.
District Excise Officer KP Yadav said that liquor worth Rs 18 crore has been sold in three days. This time we have got 20 percent more revenue than last time. 40 temporary licenses were also issued.
