Samvad Sutra, Jagran, Govardhan (Mathura). Law and order was openly challenged in Devseras, a village notorious for cyber thugs. There was bullying under the guise of wedding procession. The entire village was shaken by the firing of illegal weapons and the noise of hooters. Youths were standing on the rooftops of Defender and Thar included in the convoy, blowing hooters.
On the evening of 10th December, a procession which openly challenged the law and order in village Devseras, threw the entire village into the shadow of panic. The domineering youths involved in the marriage procession made a naked dance of terror in the narrow streets of the village, using expensive vehicles as a means of power and authority.
Not only hooters were blown from the rooftops and sunroofs of the vehicles, but firing was also done while waving illegal pistols and pistols. The case came to light after its video surfaced on social media.
This sudden hooliganism created chaos in the village. Women, children and elderly people were frightened by the sound of bullets and loud screams of hooters. In an atmosphere of fear, people closed the doors and windows of their homes and were forced to hide in their homes to save their lives.
Police station in-charge Ravi Tyagi said that on December 15, during the maintenance of peace and search of wanted persons, information was received from an informer at Chowki Palsa. According to the information, the marriage of Saiman, daughter of Sagaru son of Jhadmal, resident of village Devseras, took place on 10 December in village Angrawali (Kama).
A large number of expensive vehicles were included in the marriage procession that came to this wedding. As soon as the wedding procession youth entered the village, they ran the vehicles in the streets and openly made fun of the law by waving weapons. According to the villagers, there was a convoy of luxury vehicles like Defender, Thar, Creta and Baleno in the marriage procession.
The youth opened fire with illegal weapons while dancing to the loud tunes of the DJ. Due to this, a stampede like situation was created in the village. Especially among women and children, fear spread so much that no one could muster the courage to come out of the house till late at night. Due to fear and bullying, no villager was ready to come forward openly.
However, some people have handed over the videos made from their mobile phones to the police on the condition of anonymity. In the video footage, a long convoy of vehicles, youths standing on the roofs of vehicles and loud hooters are clearly visible. Villagers said that on a white colored Defender, “Mewati” was written in English instead of the number plate.
The number plates of many vehicles were unreadable, creating difficulty in identification. Police say that clear videos of the time of firing are not available, because as soon as they heard the sound of firing, people hid in their homes to save their lives. Considering the seriousness of the matter, the police have registered an FIR against 20 unknown persons.
The vehicles and the accused are being identified on the basis of video footage. The station in-charge has assured that the culprits will not be spared at any cost and strict legal action will be taken against them.
Villagers say that if strict steps are not taken in time, such powerful elements will not hesitate to spread terror in the village again. This incident of Devseras once again raises the question that for how long will there be strict action against those who flout the law under the guise of marriage processions and celebrations.
