In view of Republic Day, security arrangements have been tightened in the wholesale markets of Old Delhi as well as other popular markets including Connaught Place, Sarojini Nagar and Khan Market. Where paramilitary forces have also been deployed along with Delhi Police. Besides, other emergency vehicles including bomb disposal squad have also been deployed.
Market organizations also issued advisories
Delhi Police is also conducting on-site inspection by holding meetings with market organizations and taking stock of the security situation. At the same time, advisories have also been issued by market organizations for shopkeepers and employees, in which they have been advised to be alert and adopt security measures.
Delhi Chemical Merchants Association President Pradeep Gupta said that in the advisory, shopkeepers have been advised to keep an eye on every visitor and if anything seems suspicious, immediately inform the association or the police. Similarly, it has been advised to maintain CCTV system and adopt other vigilance measures.
Shopkeepers said- negligence is happening every day
Paramilitary forces along with the local police station took out a march in Sadar Bazaar and appealed to the shopkeepers to remain alert. This Republic Day, special caution is being taken in the markets. This is being done in view of the terrorist blast that took place in front of the Red Fort last year so that there is no disruption in the joy of Republic Day.
However, shopkeepers allege that this arrangement is only for a few days. Carelessness persists during the remaining days. Chandni Chowk Sarva Vyapar Mandal President Sanjay Bhargava said that carelessness is taking place in and around the bomb blast site.
