India vs Pakistan Semi Final Qualification Scenario: Will India-Pakistan semi-final not happen?

Digital Desk, Jagran Delhi. On the basis of the restrained and patient innings of captain Harry Brook (100), England made it to the semi-finals by defeating England by two wickets in the T-20 World Cup Super-8 match on Tuesday. In the match played in Pallekele, England achieved Pakistan's target of 167 runs by losing eight wickets in 19.1 overs. With this defeat of Pakistan, now its clash with India in the semi-finals has become difficult.

After one loss in two matches and one match being cancelled, Pakistan (Pakistan National Cricket Team) has only one point. Now only one match is left against Sri Lanka. In such a situation, it has now become very difficult for him to reach the last four. The Indian team is currently at third position in Group One, but even if India reaches the semi-finals, it will remain at second position because its net run rate is not good.

In such a situation, to face India, Pakistan would have to top Group Two and make it to the last four, which does not seem possible now.

ENG vs PAK: Brook's captaincy innings

England had a very bad start while chasing the target. Shaheen Afridi gave a big blow to England by dismissing Phil Salt for a golden duck on the very first ball. After this, he sent Jos Buttler and Jacob Bethel to the pavilion in the powerplay and put England in trouble by taking three wickets for 35 runs, but after this captain Harry Brook took charge.

After the dismissal of Tom Banton, Brook showed a great balance of composure and aggression. He scored runs continuously without taking any risk. Along with the rain of fours, he also paid special attention to the strike rotation, due to which the run pace was maintained in the middle overs. After the dismissal of Sam Curran, Will Jacques came to the crease with him and there was an important partnership between the two for the sixth wicket.

Fast running, accurate shot selection and well-timed aggression kept the pressure on Pakistan's bowlers. Brook completed his brilliant century in the 17th over, which shows the strength and control of his innings. Shaheen Afridi tried to make a comeback by dismissing Brook on the last ball of his last over, but by then the match was in England's control.

Brook hit 10 fours and four sixes in his innings and became the first captain to score a century in the T20 World Cup. The match was a bit exciting in the end, but Brook's special innings played a decisive role in England's victory. With this victory, England has become the first team of the tournament to enter the semi-finals. This innings of Brook played under pressure will be remembered for a long time.

Earlier, on the slow pitch, the English bowlers did not give the Pakistanis a chance to play freely. But Sahibzada Farhan scored 63 runs in 45 balls and took the team to a fighting score. Farhan's innings included seven fours and two sixes. He especially played brilliant sweep shots against England's spinners and reduced the pressure by hitting off-spinner Will Jacques for a six over cow corner.

However, his innings ended on an accurate yorker from Jamie Overton, which hit straight into the base of the middle stump. Left arm spinner Liam Dawson was the most successful bowler for England. He took three wickets for 24 runs in four overs. Dawson stopped Pakistan from making a big score by dismissing Usman Khan and Mohammad Nawaz on two consecutive balls in the 18th over. The precise line-length and grip on the pitch was clearly visible in his bowling.

He also added 12 daat balls. Pakistan's innings suffered a blow when Farhan and returning Fakhar Zaman (25) were out in quick succession. There was a quick partnership of 49 runs in 4.5 overs between the two for the fourth wicket. Fakhar, after playing some aggressive shots, missed reading Adil Rashid's googly and Overton took a brilliant catch while running back.

Opening batsman Sam Ayub once again looked uncomfortable against the pace and bounce of fast bowler Joffra Archer. While trying to play a pull shot on a short ball, he was caught out at deep square leg. Captain Salman Ali Aga's poor form continued and he was caught by Overton off the bowling of Dawson. Babar Azam (25) was also seen struggling to increase the run rate. After failing to hit big shots, he played a careless shot off Overton and was bowled.
