The Indian junior women's hockey team recorded an impressive 4-0 win over Ireland in their final Pool C match of the FIH Junior Women's World Cup at the Centro Deportivo de Hockey Cespede at the Estadio Nacional in Santiago on Friday. Purnima Yadav (42nd, 58th), Kanika Siwach (12th) and Sakshi Rana (57th) scored goals for India.

Great start to the first quarter

India got off to a great start in the first quarter and displayed excellent attacking play, earning a penalty corner in the first 12 seconds of the match, although their effort failed to reach the goal post. India continued to apply pressure and earned their second penalty corner in the tenth minute, but the opportunity was again squandered.

However, two minutes later, Sakshi Rana played a brilliant pass inside the circle to Kanika Siwach (12th minute), who expertly beat the Irish goalkeeper to break the deadlock and put the ball into the open net.

India continued their excellent form and earned two consecutive penalty corners in the 17th and 23rd minutes respectively, but Ireland goalkeeper Lucy McGoldrick made two strong saves to save her goal.

Ireland's first attempt to score a goal came in the 24th minute of the match, which was stopped by the Indian goalkeeper. At the end of the second quarter, India got their 5th penalty corner in the 28th minute, but they could not take advantage of this opportunity and the first half ended with a one-goal lead.

In the third quarter, India dominated possession of the ball and controlled the pace of the game while putting pressure on the Irish defence. In the 40th minute, India's Manisha gave an excellent pass to Sukhveer Kaur, but her shot went over the goalpost and narrowly missed the goalpost.

Shortly after, in the 42nd minute, India got another penalty corner, which Sakshi Shukla gave a strong pass to Purnima Yadav (42nd minute) in front of the goal post and further strengthened India's lead.

Ireland made a comeback in the fourth quarter as Ibha Curran moved forward on goal and fired a shot towards the bottom right corner of the post, however, a perfectly timed block by Nandini kept her effort out. India strengthened its lead by scoring consecutive goals in the 57th and 58th minutes. Sakshi Rana (57th minute) was the first to deliver an incredible performance as she fired a powerful shot past the defenders and into the bottom corner of the goal post. After this, Purnima Yadav (58th minute) scored the second goal of the match, she calmly passed the ball over the goalkeeper and registered the fourth and final goal of the match for India.
