Digital Desk, New Delhi. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju on Monday strongly criticized Congress members for disrupting the Lok Sabha proceedings and said Parliament is not a place for hooliganism. He also accused Congress of misbehavior in Speaker Om Birla's chamber.

Also said that the opposition is free to bring a no-confidence motion against the Speaker, but it does not have the numerical strength to remove him.

Behavior of Congress MPs is unacceptable

On Birla's warning to the Prime Minister regarding security in the House, Rijiju said that the behavior of Congress MPs was unacceptable. He said, “Words are falling short to condemn the behavior of Congress members in the Speaker's chamber. When a Congress leader has no control over himself, then what the Speaker did was right."

Congress had planned to spread anarchy

Rijiju alleged that the Congress had planned to spread anarchy when the Prime Minister came to the House. He had planned to snatch the papers from the Prime Minister. Parliament is not a place for hooliganism. But the government acted with restraint. Everything has a limit.

The government has no problem in passing any issue.

The Union Minister said, "The government has majority and the government has no problem in passing any issue." But we want everything to be passed after debate. We want to run the House, but if the Congress does not allow the House to function and the budget is passed by voice vote, it will impact the opposition MPs the most because they will not get a chance to speak on it.

We have already submitted the list of all NDA MPs who will speak in the debate on the budget. If MPs do not get a chance to speak, Congress will be responsible for it.

Government ready to talk to the opposition

Rijiju said that the government is ready to talk to the opposition. He said, “Now I have heard that Rahul (Gandhi) had gone to meet the Speaker with four points (conditions), which also includes withdrawal of suspension of MPs. He didn't say such things to me. From the government side, we are very clear that we want the House to run smoothly from the beginning and even today. But I cannot agree to a situation where opposition leader Rahul Gandhi will speak, make allegations, then create ruckus and not allow others to speak.

This will not happen. We will not agree to this. If Congress speaks, we will insist that other members also be allowed to speak. We will not allow only Congress to speak. Permission to speak means that the House should run smoothly. You will speak and you will speak on some unnecessary issues and then there will be problems. We cannot put the Speaker in trouble nor can you mislead the Speaker.'' (With inputs from news agency ANI)
