President Draupadi Murmu, while addressing the nation on the eve of the 77th Republic Day, has expressed confidence that the pace of growth of the country's economy will continue in the era of global turmoil. The President said that despite uncertainty on the world stage, economic growth is continuing in India. India is moving towards achieving the goal of becoming the world's third largest economy in the near future.
In the context of the current global situation, the President stressed on the mantra of self-reliance and Swadeshi and said that we are rebuilding our economic structure at a higher level by investing in building world-class infrastructure. Discussing the steps taken by the government to change the economic direction of the country, the President mentioned the latest reform in the GST tax system and said that this decision will give more strength to the economy.
GST is the most important decision taken towards economic integration of the country after independence. In the field of labor reforms, four 'Labour Codes' will benefit both workers and entrepreneurs and will also give impetus to development. Many unnecessary rules have been repealed, many compliance issues have been abolished and arrangements have been simplified in public interest. Beneficiaries are being directly connected with the facilities through technology. Ease of living is being given priority with the aim of improving everyday life.
The President said that the distance between the government and the common people is continuously being reduced. During the last decade, efforts have been made to achieve national goals through public participation. Important national campaigns have been given the form of mass movements. This is an example of the large-scale adoption of the digital payment system and today more than half of the world's digital transactions take place in India.
In his address, he also praised the roles of farmers, youth and soldiers who play an important role in the development and security of the country. He said that the major credit for the impressive success of start-ups in the country goes to young entrepreneurs and he is confident that youth power will play a major role in building a developed India by the year 2047.
During his address, the President mentioned great freedom fighters and personalities like Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Patel, Neti Subhash Chandra Bose, Baba Saheb Ambedkar, Rabindra Nath Tagore, Bakum Chandra Chattopadhyay, Subranyam Bharti, Maharishi Arvid, Narayan Guru, Birsa Munda in different contexts but made no mention of the country's first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru.
Without mentioning it in the context of recent claims that the Constitution is under threat, President Draupadi Murmu said the Constitution of India is now available in all the Indian languages included in the Eighth Schedule. Reading and understanding the Constitution in Indian languages will spread constitutional nationalism among the countrymen and will strengthen the feeling of self-respect.
The President said that since January 26, 1950, we have been taking our republic forward in the direction of constitutional ideals. Our Constitution is the foundation of the largest republic in world history. The ideals of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity enshrined in the Constitution define our republic. The framers of the Constitution have provided a strong foundation of constitutional provisions to the spirit of nationalism and unity of the country.
Discussing 'National Voters' Day', he said that our voters are showing their political awareness as per the thinking of Baba Saheb Ambedkar. The increasing participation of women in voting is a powerful dimension of our republic. Referring to the precise attack on terrorist targets through Operation Sindoor, the President said that our self-reliance in the field of security gave strength to the historic success of Operation Sindoor.
Regarding environmental protection, he said that India has guided the world community in this related area. A lifestyle integrated with nature has been a part of India's cultural tradition. Pointing towards the ongoing conflict in the world, the President said that the future of humanity can be secure only by establishing a peaceful system throughout the world and India is advocating world peace in the environment of unrest prevailing in many areas.
In this sequence, the President also said that a time-bound resolution has been made to free the country from the remnants of slavery mentality. Indian knowledge tradition has a great heritage of philosophy, medicine, astronomy, mathematics, literature and art.
