Jagran correspondent, Siliguri. The Indian Army has revolutionized border construction work. Trishakti Corps of Eastern Command has commissioned fully indigenous on-site 3D concrete printing technology in and around Sikkim along the China border. With this, bunkers in inaccessible high altitude areas will be ready within hours.
Military posts will also be built immediately. Defense Public Relations Officer Guwahati, Lt. Colonel Mahendra Rawat said that this technology is part of the project 'Prabal' started in collaboration with IIT Hyderabad.
The mobile 3D concrete printer developed under the project is specially designed for hilly and border areas. The entire unit can be easily transported in a truck and setup in a very short time.
The printer is equipped with a robotic arm, concrete mixer, pump and its own generator. It can do the work only with local sand, ballast and cement. The biggest feature is that its design can be changed as per the need.
Take. Colonel Rawat said that live firing and explosion tests have been conducted on the printed structures. In testing these structures have proven to be much stronger and more protective than ordinary concrete construction. Their pressure bearing capacity and anti-blast strength have been found to be exceptional.
