Sports Desk, New Delhi. Sachin Tendulkar gifts Ayush Mhatre his test jersey: After creating history on Zimbabwean soil, India Under-19 team captain Ayush Mhatre has returned home. Under his leadership, the Indian youth team won the title for a record sixth time by defeating England by 100 runs in the final of ICC Under-19 World Cup 2026.

After returning to Mumbai, Mhatre met Sachin Tendulkar, known as the 'God of Cricket'. This meeting became a memorable moment for him, when Tendulkar gifted him the jersey of his Test career and Ayush wrote a beautiful message on it along with a video on his Instagram.

Let us tell you that this honor is no less than an inspiration for the young captain. 18 year old Ayush Mhatre shared the video of this special moment on his Instagram account, in which he was seen taking this special gift from the Master Blaster. With this he wrote,

I have grown up always watching you on screen. Today I am standing in your house and holding a part of your journey in my hands. Thank you sir for this honour. I will cherish it with the same respect as you have handled Indian cricket over the years.

Team India became champion under the captaincy of Ayush Mhatre.

In the knockout matches, Ayush Mhatre played important innings while leading from the front as captain. Scored 53 runs on 51 balls in the final against England and 62 runs on 59 balls in the semi-final against Afghanistan. In the entire tournament, he scored a total of 214 runs in 7 innings at an average of 30.57 and was India's fourth highest run-scorer.

However, Vaibhav Suryavanshi grabbed the headlines more, who won the title of 'Player of the Tournament' by scoring 439 runs. On the basis of his explosive inning of 175 runs in the final, which included 15 fours and 15 sixes, he broke many records of the Under-19 World Cup.
