Digital Desk, New Delhi. Last year, the largest number of tourists visiting Sri Lanka were Indians. According to data released by the Tourism Authority of Sri Lanka, 23 lakh tourists arrived in 2025, of which Indian tourists were the highest.
"India is the undisputed leading tourist market, receiving 531,511 tourists. This number is more than double that of the second most visited country. This represents a significant increase of over 114,000 tourists compared to the previous year," an official statement said.
15 percent increase compared to last year
This was an increase of more than 15 percent over the previous year. The tourists coming in second place include people from Britain. 21,277 tourists came from there. Indian tourist arrivals increased by an average of more than 23 percent per month, with a peak of 56,715 tourists in December. The lowest number of Indian tourists arrived in February was 35,000.
