JNN, Indore. A major accident has occurred due to supply of contaminated water in Bhagirathpura area of Indore city of Madhya Pradesh. Due to pipeline leakage, sewer water mixed with drinking water, causing an epidemic of vomiting and diarrhea. So far 10 people have died, while more than 2000 people have been affected. Hundreds of these are admitted in hospitals. This incident is raising a big question on the image of Indore, which is said to be the cleanest city of the country.

Taking the matter seriously, Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav has constituted an inquiry committee and suspended three officers and dismissed one from service. The government is bearing the expenses of the treatment of the affected people and arrangements for clean water are being made through tankers.

Controversial statement of Minister Vijayvargiya

After the CM's meeting at MGM Medical College on Wednesday, Cabinet Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya (whose assembly constituency falls in Indore-1 Bhagirathpura) came out. A journalist asked him why the refund of patients admitted in private hospitals has not been received yet and why proper arrangements for drinking water have not been made?

The minister got angry at this and said, "Hey, leave it friend, don't even ask questions." When the journalist insisted, he used abusive words and left from there. During this, a councilor (Kamal Vaghela) also had a heated argument with the journalist. The video of the incident quickly went viral on social media.

After the video went viral, late night minister Kailash Vijayvargiya apologized by posting it on Twitter. He wrote: "I and my team have been working without sleep for the last two days to improve the situation in the affected area. My people are suffering due to contaminated water and some have left us. In this state of deep grief, my words came out wrong on a media question. For this I apologize. But I will not rest until my people are completely safe and healthy."

Congress has launched a scathing attack on the minister's statement. The party called it a symbol of arrogance in power and demanded that the minister publicly apologise. The opposition says that despite claims of cleanliness, such negligence shows the failure of the administration.

The administration claims that the situation is now under control and after investigation, strict action will be taken against the culprits. All possible help is being provided to the affected families. This incident is raising serious questions on the water supply system of Indore. People are hoping that everything will become normal soon.
