Jagran correspondent, Patna. There is severe cold effect in the state due to dense fog and cold wind. On the occasion of New Year, people will feel fog and darkness. According to Meteorological Center Patna, dense fog will prevail in 12 districts including Patna and the effect of Kankani due to westerly will remain. Whereas, a warning has been issued in 22 districts of the state regarding cold day along with Kankani.

Cold day conditions are likely to persist in different parts of the state with dense fog prevailing in the state till January 6. Gayaji was the coldest in the state at 5.0 degrees Celsius. Gayaji remained the coldest in the state this season.

Patna's mercury 9.4 degrees Celsius

Whereas, the capital recorded its lowest minimum temperature this season at 9.4 degrees Celsius. A drop of three degrees Celsius was recorded in the minimum temperature during the last 24 hours. The maximum temperature of Patna was recorded at 18.3 degrees Celsius. Kishanganj has the highest temperature with 22.7 degrees Celsius.

Severe cold day conditions persisted in Bhagalpur, Chhapra, Sabour, Madhubani, Samastipur, Munger and cold day conditions in Patna, Gayaji, Arwal and Jehanabad of the state. The state's maximum temperature was recorded between 12.7 degrees Celsius to 19.0 degrees Celsius.

Gayaji recorded the lowest visibility in the state at 50 metres. On Wednesday, there was fog in the morning in Patna and surrounding areas. Despite sunshine in the afternoon, people remained troubled by Kankani in the evening due to Pachhua.

Cold day conditions in the state for 13 days

The Meteorological Department issued information regarding the end of the year and the arrival of the new year. This year, there were 13 days of cold day and six days of severe cold day in the state. This year, there was heat wave for seven days and severe heat wave for one day.

The state recorded 686.3 mm rainfall during the monsoon season. Which was recorded 31 percent less than normal. Heavy rainfall was recorded at 74 different places in the state. Very heavy rainfall was recorded at 24 places.

The highest maximum temperature recorded in the state was 44.6 degrees Celsius in Dehri on April 27. The lowest minimum temperature recorded was 5.0 degrees Celsius at Gayaji on 31 December.
