State Bureau, Jammu. The entire House seemed united on Thursday against the material being circulated on various mediums of internet media to defame the elected representatives and the problems being created for various communities of the society by the so-called fake internet media journalists.
Calling it a serious problem, all the members stressed on making effective arrangements to stop it immediately. The Speaker also considered it serious and asked for a special discussion on it in the House. He asked BJP MLA RS Pathania to submit the proposal for discussion. During Question Hour, the ruling party and the opposition were seen in support of BJP MLA RS Pathania on the issue of fake news and internet media in the state.
Objectionable comments are made on social media
National Conference MLA Nazir Ahmed Gureji said that here some people have alleged on the internet media that I have taken lakhs of rupees in the name of getting a job, in this the name of the Speaker was also taken. Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Chaudhary said that objectionable comments are made on internet media every day.
Social Welfare Minister Sakina Ittu said that the concern of the members is the concern of the entire House. It was told that a special media monitoring cell has been created in the Directorate of Information and Public Relations to track fake and misleading information. The department issued 28 responses related to fake news and misinformation from April 1, 2025 to January 31, 2026.
