Jaishankar Talks With US Parliamentary Group, Talks On Indo-Pacific Region And Ukraine Issue

Digital Desk, New Delhi. Amid ongoing diplomatic tensions between India and the US, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar discussed various aspects of bilateral relations with a three-member US parliamentary delegation, in which trade and security issues were important.

In addition, detailed discussions were held on several aspects of the ongoing conflict in the Indo-Pacific region and Ukraine. He described this conversation as an important aspect of relations between India and America.

US Ambassador Sergio Gore, who was present at the meeting with External Affairs Minister Jaishankar on Sunday, said the talks were 'fruitful' and focused on strengthening bilateral partnership in the areas of security, trade and critical technologies.

External Affairs Minister Jaishankar shared a post that he spoke with Representatives Mike Rogers of Alabama, Adam Smith of Washington and Jimmy Patronis of Florida. Also discussed with US Ambassador to India Sergio Gore.

Ambassador Gore described the meeting as "fruitful" and said it will lead to stronger India-US relations, expanded trade, and cooperation on critical technologies. The meeting comes amid a series of high-level talks between New Delhi and Washington.

During the weekly media briefing in Delhi, External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, "This conversation took place on January 13." This was the first conversation between the two leaders. They discussed a range of bilateral issues including trade, critical minerals, defence, civil nuclear cooperation and energy. They also exchanged their perspectives on regional development.
