There have been blasts in scrap warehouses before, lives have been lost.
This is not the first time that someone has lost their life in an accident in a scrap warehouse. About five years ago, a fire broke out during a blast in a scrap warehouse in Maqsudan area and one person died. A year ago, a fire broke out in a scrap warehouse in Nakhawala Bagh at around 3 o'clock in the night.
During that time, due to the explosion, cracks had appeared in the nearby houses. After the accident in Santokhpura, the people present at the spot said that permission should be taken from the authorities to open such warehouses in residential areas. Many people said that there are scrap warehouses in every area of the city, where illegal business also runs.
