Satyam Kumar Singh, Jhajha (Jamui). The incident of accident of goods train on bridge number 676 near Lahaban of Jamui-Jasidih railway section has exposed the safety system of the railway track. A few days ago, a conspiracy was hatched by mischievous elements to cause a major train accident on this bridge by opening the dis plate.
If strict action had been taken against such criminals in time, this incident probably would not have happened. It was a good coincidence that this accident did not happen with any passenger train, otherwise the situation could have been much more frightening.
At present the Railway Department has not been able to ascertain the cause of the incident. Due to the serious situation, the officials are first busy in restoring the railway operations. However, this major incident has raised serious questions on the functioning of RPF, PWI and Railway Police.
This year, several incidents of railway track tampering have come to light between Jhajha-Jasidih and Jhajha-Dadpur railway sections, after which the railway administration and local police came into action, but till now no case has been exposed.
On February 13, the railway track was cut with a saw near Ranikura village adjacent to Jhajha. A part of the track was cut, information about which was received by the patrolling trackman in time. If the tracks were cut from the other side too, a massive train accident could have occurred and there would have been massive loss of life and property.
As soon as the information was received, train operations were stopped and the up line was disrupted for about an hour. At that time the Railway Police had called it a conspiracy to cause a train accident.
On February 18, two fish plates were found open on the up line between Lahaban-Telwa Bazaar halt of Jasidih-Jhajha railway section of Asansol division of Eastern Railway. If the patrolling personnel had not noticed this, a major accident could have occurred.
Due to this, 13185 Up Sealdah – Jaynagar Gangasagar Express was stopped at the spot for about 45 minutes as a precautionary measure. This incident took place near kilometer number 344/17-19.
On the night of 13 February, SSB had recovered 45 kg of explosives just 500 meters from the railway track near Ghorparan station. After this incident, the fear deepened that mischievous elements were planning to cause a major accident on this railway section.
On February 24, Swan squad of Sashastra Seema Bal had recovered 45 kg of white colored gunpowder from Ghorparan forest. Later the bomb disposal squad destroyed it in the forest itself. The gunpowder was kept in a sack about 500 meters from the railway track, which Swann discovered on the basis of smell.
The incident of cutting the railway track near Ranikura was not the result of any criminal conspiracy, but the track was damaged by the train itself. -Vishwajeet Dayal, SP, Jamui.
