Jagran correspondent, Bhubaneswar. At least 35 students of Gurujung Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Odisha's Khurda district have been affected with jaundice, raising concerns among parents and local health officials.
According to the information shared by the school administration, the affected students are from class 6 to 12.
According to sources, the students are suffering from this disease since December 20. After information about the matter came to light, the school administration started strict monitoring of the health condition of the students and informed the concerned departments to prevent the situation from becoming serious.
As a precautionary measure, many students suffering from jaundice have been sent to their homes, while other students are kept under medical observation in the school premises.
Although the exact reason for the spread of this disease is not clear yet, some parents allege that the infection may have spread due to contaminated drinking water in the school premises.
However, no official confirmation has been made yet regarding the source of infection.
