In the sixth convocation ceremony of Jharkhand Rai University, Ranchi, Governor cum Visitor of the University, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, while congratulating all the students who received the degree, said that this achievement is the result of hard work, discipline and dedication of the students. He said that the graduation ceremony is not just the end of the educational journey but the beginning of a new life journey.
The aim of education is not just to obtain a degree but to build personality, develop moral values and strengthen the sense of responsibility towards the society. He expected the students to use their knowledge and skills for the welfare of the nation and society. The Governor said that today our country is moving on the path of progress with new confidence and determination.
He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the mantra of Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas is giving a new direction to the country. Youth have an important role in realizing the resolution of Developed India @2047.
Innovation-based campaigns like Make in India, Startup India and Digital India have inspired the youth to become employment creators and not job seekers. Said that at present the world is going through a phase of rapid change, where areas like Artificial Intelligence, digital technology, green energy and innovation are providing new opportunities.
Referring to the Global AI Conference held in New Delhi, he said that India is moving strongly towards technological leadership. At such times, your better and adaptive abilities, tendency to continuously learn and creative thinking will be your biggest strengths. He said that prestige is not achieved by position, but by deeds and character.
Said that efforts are being made to make the higher education of the state better and qualitative. He expressed the desire that the state universities should be counted among the excellent universities of the national level, the role of private universities is also important in this. He stressed on giving top priority to quality, research, innovation and ethical values and said that the reputation of any university is built on the achievements of its students and their contribution to the society. In the ceremony, Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Dr. Piyush Ranjan, while reading the University report, said that the University has been working on four guiding pillars since its inception.
There are 21 programmes, 8 faculties and 6 departments running in the university. The 35 per cent increase in student enrollment in the last academic year shows that our vision of quality, knowledge, skills, innovation and knowledge transmission is on the right track. Vice Chancellor Jharkhand Rai University emphasizes on practical and self-realized education along with classroom based education.
Said that the last few years have seen many achievements in the academic and research sector, including MoUs with prestigious institutions like IITs, more than 30 patents for teachers and approval for student startups. Registrar Dr. Amrita Majumdar conducted the function. A total of 494 students were awarded degrees in the ceremony. In which there were 380 boys and 114 girls.
During this, the Governor awarded Gold Medal to 14 students and Chancellor Medal to 2 students. Among those who received gold medals are 6 boys and 8 girls. 107 students of postgraduate course, 315 students of undergraduate course, 61 students of diploma course and 11 research students who obtained PhD degree also participated in the ceremony.
University is pursuing education with technical institutes
Addressing the convocation ceremony, former Chief Minister of the state Arjun Munda said that Jharkhand Rai University is taking education forward with many research and technical institutions. He said that in the university, where you are carrying forward the work through research and knowledge, there are many things which need to be mentioned.
Said that India, while sharing the stage with the world through AI, has created a physical surface which gives an opportunity to work on the possibilities of discovery, research and knowledge by expanding it infinitely. The Prime Minister wants the country to move forward in the field of further development and research. We still need more concrete work in these areas. India plays the role of producer in many fields but it is important for us to remember our indigenous technology.
You are the biggest asset of the nation and the university.
Addressing the students in the program, former Chancellor of the University, Dr. Harbin Arora Rai said that initiation is an integral part of our knowledge tradition, all of you students have also got the opportunity to join this tradition. This ceremony is also reflecting the tradition to which you all have become witnesses. Said that you are the biggest asset of the nation and the university.
It is not that after completing your studies from the university, you have separated from it, now you will serve as an alumni. While discussing the mutual relations between India and Seychelles, India's High Commissioner to the Republic of Seychelles Lalatiana Akouche said that work is being done between the two countries in many areas in which education is important. She said that upliftment of women power is important. She is the first woman High Commissioner of her country which shows how important education is for half the population.
