He was returning to Kishanganj (Bihar) from Siliguri in West Bengal on Monday night. Near Bagdogra Bihar turn, the four-wheeler of the Excise Superintendent slightly collided with a bike. During this, local people scuffled with the inspector and other personnel.

Bengal Police solved the case

Bagdogra police station reached the spot and took all three into custody. Bengal Police released them from the police station after about three hours. Here, after this incident, the department has taken a tough stance and sought clarification from both the constables including the inspector.

Excise superintendent asked for clarification from inspector and two constables

According to the information, an inspector, two women constables and another personnel of Kishanganj Excise Department were coming from Siliguri towards Kishanganj in a private vehicle. While overtaking the vehicle on NH 27 of Bagdogra police station area and taking the side due to presence of barrier ahead, there was a minor collision between the vehicle and bike of the excise officer. After this, the inspector present in the vehicle got into an argument with the local people. Local people alleged that the excise department vehicle was overtaking too fast, due to which the other vehicle could have crashed.

Dispute over vehicle speed

It is alleged that he and other employees were also manhandled. As soon as information about the uproar on the road was received, the police of Bagdogra police station reached the spot. She took the police inspector and the two constables with her and went to the police station. No complaint has been filed by any party. After this the matter calmed down.

Inspector accused of scuffle

However, this matter has now gained momentum at the departmental level. The department has taken a strict stance against going to Bengal without official permission. Clarification has been sought from the personnel as to what work they had gone to Siliguri for. Further action will be taken after receiving the reply. The department is also investigating what the inspector did when he went in a private vehicle with the woman constable when there was no government work. Excise Station Head Manish Saxena said that Excise Superintendent Deepak Mishra has sought clarification from the employees.
