vehicles passing through fog
Jagran correspondent, Bareilly. The speed of vehicles has slowed down due to dense fog at night. The risk of accidents has increased due to reduced visibility. Rescue measures are being taken by the Transport Department, Police, National Highway Authority of India. Even after this, it is taking up to double the time to reach the destination. Considering the circumstances, postpone traveling at night if it is not absolutely necessary.
Instructions have been issued to the bus drivers of the Transport Corporation to stop the bus at a bus stand, petrol pump or dhaba when the fog becomes dense, so that accidents can be avoided. The speed of buses operating from the old bus stand and satellite bus stand had stopped on Monday night. Leave aside the routes outside the city, drivers were facing difficulty in going from the old bus stand to Chowki intersection, Lal Phatak, CBganj Damru intersection.
The situation was getting worse in the fog as we came out of the city. The driver was driving the bus with style, but the passengers sitting in the bus were feeling scared. A fire broke out after seven buses and two cars collided on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura at night, killing 13 people. Everyone should learn a lesson from the accidents that happened at various places including the Agra-Lucknow Express.
In view of this, Regional Manager of Transport Corporation, Deepak Chaudhary has directed all ARMs to warn the drivers and conductors to stop the buses at safe places when visibility becomes very low in dense fog. All weather bulbs must be mandatorily installed in all buses. Apart from this, make sure to install reflectors also.
Here, the National Highway Authority of India is running a campaign to repair lights, road markings and sign boards on the highway to curb road accidents in fog. Surveillance has been increased on Bareilly-Sitapur Road, Bareilly-Pilibhit Road.
Project Director Navratna said that emergency services are already running on the highway. Sign boards were required at some places on Sitapur Highway, they have been installed there. Concerned project managers of NHAI have been deployed to conduct safety operations on different routes.
