Jagran correspondent, Baniyather (Sambhal). To get her rights on three bighas of land, the woman had to keep her husband's dead body in the house for two days. His own brother-in-law had got this land transferred to his name without taking his notice. The woman did not get justice even due to the deceit of her relatives and the villagers, so she did not even perform the last rites of her husband's body after he died of illness.
On getting information about the matter, the police reached the spot and explained to the woman and got the process of deed of the said land done in the name of the woman. After this the woman cremated her husband's body. The matter pertains to Kasampur Jagroop village of the police station area. Village resident Ulfat was married to Angoori Devi 20 years ago.
He did not have any children after marriage. Ulfat also has a brother Mahesh. On the night of 10 February i.e. Tuesday, Ulfat complained of severe pain in the stomach and his wife took him to the doctor. Returned home after taking medicine. Then at around 12 o'clock in the night Ulfat died. Hearing the screams, relatives and nearby people reached the spot.
The next day, the deceased's wife Angoori Devi came to know that without her knowledge, her brother-in-law Mahesh had secretly got 10 bighas of land in his name. On this he asked his brother-in-law to return the land but he refused. The villagers explained but Angoori Devi refused to perform the last rites until she got the land back.
In this matter, on Thursday the wife made a verbal complaint to the police and informed them about this incident. Then the police came into action and reached the village. After police intervention, brother-in-law Mahesh agreed to give three bighas of land. After this, he reached the tehsil with his sister-in-law Angoori Devi and got the deed of land registered there.
Police station in-charge Manoj Verma said that the woman had not allowed the cremation of her husband's body to demand the return of the land. Later he was given three bighas of land. Only then did he perform the last rites.
