Digital Desk, New Delhi. The Syrian Army has captured the Omar oil field (the country's largest) and the Conoco gas field, located in eastern Deir Zor province. The forces are advancing into the oil-rich region bordering Iraq. The capture of these oil fields east of the Euphrates River, which are the main source of revenue for Kurdish-led forces, was a major blow to the group.
Forces are advancing towards Raqqa and Hasakah, the last strongholds of the US-backed autonomous Kurdish-led administration. Kurdish commander calls for US intervention with full force in Syrian conflicts.
The army also took control of Tabqa and its adjacent dam late Saturday, as well as the key Freedom Dam (formerly known as Baath Dam), west of Raqqa. However, Syrian Kurdish officials have not acknowledged the loss of those strategic sites and said fighting continues near the dam area.
Al-Qaeda linked terrorist killed in US attack
According to ANI, the US Army killed al-Qaeda-linked terrorist Bilal Hassan al-Jassim in an attack in Syria. He was directly linked to the ISIS attack targeting American troops in Syria in December.
