Samvad Sutra, Ekangarsarai. The years-old demand of the people regarding the establishment of a degree college in Ekangarsarai block is still unfulfilled. Before the elections, this issue was the main question of the residents of Ekangarsarai.

Giving priority to this serious demand of the public, MLA Ruhail Ranjan, after winning the elections, continuously contacted the education department and other concerned people at the state level. The effect of the efforts was that positive signals were received from the government regarding the establishment of degree college, but due to non-availability of land, the entire process is currently stuck.

MLA Ruhail Ranjan said that to establish a degree college, at least 2.5 acres of land is required in urban areas and 5 acres of land in rural areas. Till now, suitable and available land has not been identified, due to which the proposal of the college has not been duly sent.

He has requested the Sub-Divisional Officer of Hilsa and the Circle Officer of Ekangarsarai to take immediate initiative in this direction and provide land.

Process of finding land expedited

In this regard, Ekangarsarai Circle Officer Vivek Kumar Singh said that the process of finding suitable land for the degree college has been expedited. Necessary guidelines have been issued to various revenue officials. Potential locations are being identified and concrete progress is expected in this direction soon.

If a degree college is established in Ekangarsarai, thousands of students of the area will not have to resort to other cities for higher education. Providing quality education at the local level will provide great relief to children from poor and middle class families.

The financial burden on parents will reduce, time will be saved and the level of education will improve significantly. The construction of the college will also boost local business, library, stationery, coaching and transportation system. Along with improving the future of the youth, the educational development of the area will also get a new direction due to better education environment.

Due to lack of degree colleges, students have to go to far-flung cities including Nalanda, Bihar Sharif, Hilsa, Patna. Traveling long distances daily, fare expenses, wastage of time and security concerns have become major problems.

Especially girl students have to face the most problems. Traveling to another city involves many challenges for them like safe transport facilities, family permission, social pressure and possible inconveniences on the way. Many girl students are not able to continue higher education due to this reason and leave their studies midway.
