Case registered against 8 including former MD of Kangra Cooperative Bank

Jagran correspondent, Una. A major revelation has come to light in an old hotel loan case related to Kangra Central Co-operative Bank Limited (KCCB) in Una district. A case has been registered against former managing director of the bank Vinod Kumar and 8 other officers and employees in Sadar Una police station.

Bank accused of fraud

This case has been registered on the complaint of Yudh Chand Bains, son of Puran Chand, resident of village Bhura, Post Office Rajgarh, district Mandi. According to the complainant, he had applied for a hotel project from Kangra Central Co-operative Bank Limited, Una in the year 2016 and had taken a loan. In exchange for this loan, his properties MS Hotel Himalayan Village and Hotel Snow Manali were mortgaged.

The complaint alleges that the then officials of the bank allegedly removed, destroyed and seriously tampered with the official loan records related to the hotel project. It is also alleged that important documents related to valuation present in the loan file, which were in the custody of the bank officials, were later found missing.

'The bank caused financial loss'

The complainant has also alleged that the bank officials conspired to deliberately understate the value of his mortgaged property, causing huge financial loss to him. Apart from this, the bank wrongly declared the loan as NPA (Non Performing Asset), despite following the required procedures to do so.

Case registered against 9 people

In this case, Vinod Kumar, former managing director of Kangra Central Co-operative Bank Limited and 8 other officers and employees of the bank have been made accused. According to the police, prima facie cases of tampering of records, destruction of documents and criminal conspiracy have been found.

SP Una Amit Yadav confirmed that a case has been registered against 9 people and further investigation is being conducted. During the investigation, bank records, loan files, valuation reports and the role of the concerned officials are being thoroughly scrutinized.
