The police have now issued a look out notice to bring the accused back from abroad.

Jagran correspondent, Varanasi. A look out notice has been issued against Shubham Jaiswal, who is absconding in the case of banned cough syrup containing codeine, to bring him back from abroad. Along with this, properties worth about Rs 40 crore belonging to his family and close ones have been identified where bulldozing action can be taken.

This property has been identified during the investigation of cough syrup smuggling case worth Rs 2,000 crore. In this investigation being conducted by the Special Investigation Team (SIT), preparations are being made to confiscate the property collected through smuggling money and to run bulldozers. Only after interrogating Shubham after his return from abroad, the secret of the working style of the entire gang can be revealed.

Police Commissioner Mohit Aggarwal informed on Monday that cases have been registered in Kotwali, Ramnagar, Rohaniya and Sarnath police stations of Varanasi in the cough syrup smuggling case. Considering the seriousness of this matter, SIT has been formed. Investigation has also revealed that cough syrup was being smuggled into Bangladesh.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Kashi Zone and SIT Chairman Gaurav Banswal said that apart from Shubham Jaiswal, a look out notice has been issued against Varanasi's Divesh Jaiswal alias Sanu, Akash Pathak and Amit Jaiswal. The Commissionerate Police had sent a proposal to the Bureau of Immigration for this action. After the issue of look out notice, all the escape routes of the accused abroad will be under surveillance.

According to sources, Shubham Jaiswal is currently hiding in Dubai. Since there is an extradition treaty between India and UAE, he would be unable to flee from there to anywhere else. Divesh Jaiswal used to operate the accounts of drug dealers involved in smuggling, while Amit and Akash used to groom people to form fake firms.

The Bureau of Immigration is an agency of the Government of India, which works under the Ministry of Home Affairs. Its main function is to monitor the entry, exit, migration and registration of foreigners in the country. This includes monitoring of visas, travel restrictions and management of biometric data of all foreign nationals for national security.

The SIT investigation in this case is progressing rapidly, and the police have decided to take concrete steps to break the smuggling network. The process to confiscate the assets of Shubham and his associates will be initiated soon. It is believed that the police and administration may soon take strict action in this controversial matter.

The action of the police and SIT in the case of cough syrup smuggling in Varanasi makes it clear that strict steps are being taken against smuggling. This action is not only a warning to smugglers but also a strong message against these types of illegal activities in the society. Everyone will be waiting for the further action and the results of the investigation, so that all the persons involved in this serious crime can be given appropriate punishment.
